Yeongdeungpo-gu Distributes 590,000 KF94 Masks to Low-Income Households
Free Distribution of 589,600 KF94 Masks for Basic Livelihood and Facility Beneficiaries... 13,400 People to Receive 44 Masks Each via Contactless Delivery to Prevent COVID-19 Spread
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) is distributing 580,000 health masks (KF94) to low-income residents and residents of social welfare facilities for COVID-19 prevention and fine dust protection.
The district explained that the purpose is to prevent respiratory diseases that may be caused by fine dust and to protect the health and safety of socially vulnerable groups who are having difficulty securing masks due to the spread and prolongation of COVID-19.
Accordingly, a total of about 13,000 basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty groups, and residents of living facilities in Yeongdeungpo will be provided with 44 KF94 masks per person free of charge.
Low-income households such as basic livelihood security recipients and near-poverty groups will receive the masks via non-face-to-face courier delivery to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
For residents of welfare facilities, public officials in charge of the living facilities will deliver the masks to the facility heads, who will distribute them according to the number of people within the facility. To prevent mask omission and duplicate distribution, strict management and preparation of distribution ledgers will be ensured.
A facility official in charge of mask distribution said, “It is fortunate that a sufficient number of masks have been provided for socially vulnerable groups at a time when masks have become essential due to the spread of COVID-19 and the surge of fine dust,” adding, “Every time I hear words of thanks from facility users who received the masks, I feel proud that we have provided practical help.”
Last year, the district also distributed 489,600 fine dust blocking masks to 11,668 low-income household members and 184 residents of facilities for the disabled.
In addition, in October of this year, about 200 special transparent masks that allow lip shape and facial expression identification were delivered to the Yeongdeungpo Sign Language Interpretation Center, demonstrating efforts to provide customized welfare support for each beneficiary.
