Explosion Accident at New Construction Site in Yongin, Gyeonggi … 1 Dead, 1 Seriously Injured
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] At around 4:35 PM on the 14th, a fire broke out at a newly constructed construction site in Idong-myeon, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do (photo), resulting in the death of one person presumed to be a worker and another person being transported to the hospital with third-degree burns over their entire body.
According to the Fire Department, the fire is believed to have expanded after about ten 200-liter fuel drums stacked in an open area outside the construction site exploded one after another. Approximately 60 pyeong (about 198 square meters) of one floor of the construction site was completely burned down.
The fire authorities deployed 21 fire trucks and 59 firefighters to the scene and completely extinguished the fire at around 5:40 PM, about an hour after the report.
