Gwangju Buk-gu Wins Grand Prize for Good Neighbor Bright Neighborhood Two Years in a Row
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Moon In) announced on the 8th that it won the grand prize for two consecutive years at the ‘2020 Good Neighbor Bright Village’ awards.
The ‘Good Neighbor Bright Village’ awards, jointly hosted by Gwangju City, Jeollanam-do, and the Gwangju Broadcasting Culture Foundation, are given to individuals and organizations dedicated to the development of the local community. This year, recipients who contributed to overcoming COVID-19 and spreading a healthy social culture, thereby realizing a hopeful Gwangju community, were selected.
The grand prize winner this time, Buk-gu’s ‘Samgak-dong Residents’ Autonomy Association (Chairman Choi Jang-gi), implemented ‘Emergency Disaster Relief Fund Prepayment’ and the ‘Emergency Disaster Relief Fund Village Donation Challenge,’ and participated in overcoming COVID-19 by delivering handwritten letters and bouquets to residents suffering from COVID blues.
In particular, to prepare for the post-COVID-19 era, they conducted consulting for a fairy tale contest using YouTube and actively realized village autonomy by directly restoring village gardens damaged by the heavy rains in August.
Additionally, through various village projects such as operating a village environmental school, creating resident community spaces, and establishing village future plans, they formed a communicating and harmonious village community.
