Gurye-gun Hosts 'Back to Gurye - Basic Unit Cultural Arts Education Forum'
Presentation and Discussion on the Role and Sustainability of Cultural Arts Education Support Centers in Endangered Areas
[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] On the 6th, it was announced that Jeollanam-do Gurye-gun and Jirisan-ssi Cooperative (CEO Im Hyun-soo) held the ‘Back to Gurye - Basic Unit Cultural Arts Education Forum’ at the Gurye-gun Office large conference room on the 3rd.
About 30 people attended the forum, including Lee Doo-sung, Deputy Governor of Gurye-gun, Kim Song-sik, Gurye-gun council member, Han Jang-won, head of Gurye Cultural Center, related departments of the county office, Gurye Education Support Office, and residents related to culture, arts, and education.
This forum was prepared to form a public-private consensus on the direction of establishing a base for basic unit cultural arts education to restore the resilience of the region.
Based on the problems of regional cultural arts education diagnosed by residents, experts proposed directions to seek solutions suitable for the region.
At this event, Im Hyun-soo, CEO of Jirisan-ssi Cooperative, shared the problems of Gurye cultural arts education diagnosed by residents.
Jung Min-ryong, director of Gwangju Buk-gu Cultural House, presented ‘Looking at the Cultural Arts Education Ecosystem in Regions at Risk of Disappearance,’ and Kim So-yeon, acting head of the Citizen Education Headquarters at the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service, presented ‘Conditions for the Sustainability of Basic Unit Cultural Arts Education Support Centers.’
In the designated discussion, Baek Hyun-joo, former planning director of Suwon Lifelong Learning Center, presented ‘From Management to Consignment, Back to Collaborative Governance,’ and Choi Ji-man, CEO of Life Zone Research Institute, presented ‘Practical Concerns and Solutions for the Sustainability of Regional Cultural Arts Education Support Centers,’ followed by a comprehensive discussion among attendees.
The attendees agreed that for basic cultural arts education support centers to properly fulfill their roles in the region, they must be linked with lifelong education, village communities, urban regeneration, and plans connected to the life and values of the region.
Furthermore, for sustainability, they reached consensus on the need to create a public-private collaborative governance consultation structure capable of specific support and cooperation, along with research on regional demand and resources, and the discovery and training of local personnel.
Gurye-gun and Jirisan-ssi Cooperative plan to establish an operation plan for the basic cultural arts education support center through this year’s ‘Basic Unit Cultural Arts Education Base Construction Support Project’ and conduct pilot operations until 2022.
