Ministry of Science and ICT Initiates On-Site Communication for 'New Deal Fund'
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Ahead of the launch of the 'New Deal Fund' next year, the government held an investment briefing session to start on-site communication.
On the 6th, the Ministry of Science and ICT, together with the Financial Services Commission and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, held the 'Digital New Deal Investment Briefing' to announce policy directions in the digital New Deal sector and the operation direction of the New Deal Fund. The briefing was co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Financial Services Commission. It took place at the Yeouido Industrial Bank IR Center with about 50 attendees, including Minister Choi Ki-young of the Ministry of Science and ICT, Financial Services Commission Chairman Eun Sung-soo, Assemblyman Lee Kwang-jae, Korea Development Bank Chairman Lee Dong-geol, and around 40 industry and financial sector officials.
The briefing attracted major information and communication technology (ICT) companies leading the digital sector, as well as key asset management firms and venture capitalists spearheading private equity and venture investments, showing strong interest in digital sector investments. The New Deal investment briefing was held to enhance the understanding and interest of private businesses and investors regarding the Korean New Deal policy and the New Deal Fund. Following this digital New Deal investment briefing, the government plans to continuously hold sector-specific investment briefings in the Korean New Deal field until the establishment of the policy-type New Deal Fund.

Minister Choi Ki-young of the Ministry of Science and ICT stated, “For the successful promotion of the digital New Deal, which is the core axis of the Korean New Deal, participation from the private sector is essential alongside government efforts,” adding, “The Ministry of Science and ICT will actively support and create a new growth foundation through large-scale proactive investments and policy direction in the digital New Deal sector.”
