Why Did Mapo-gu Hold the 'Urban Problem Solving Forum Collaborative Sharing Meeting'?
Three Major Local Issues: Shared Community Spaces, Gentrification, Illegal Waste Dumping... Forum Results by Topic Announced on the 5th and Future Directions Decided Through Group Discussions
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) will hold the 'Mapo Urban Problem Solving Forum Cooperation Sharing Meeting' on the 5th at the Youth Culture Space JU Donggyo-dong.
This sharing meeting is an opportunity for Mapo-gu to share the achievements of the 'Mapo Urban Problem Solving Forum' that has been conducted to publicize and solve complex urban issues through resident participation.
Launched in 2020 as part of Mapo-gu's cooperative governance projects, the 'Mapo Urban Problem Solving Forum' has been conducting a deliberation process to derive solutions through public-private cooperation for the three major local issues identified through last year's resident public discussions: ▲shared resident spaces ▲gentrification (dungjinaemollim phenomenon) ▲illegal dumping of waste.
To operate the forum, the Mapo 1st Street Research Group of Mapo-gu formed a forum executive team consisting of residents and public officials, and recruited 30 resident panelists in July to share opinions at the forum.
Subsequently, in preparation for the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), a total of six forums, including two topic-specific forums, were held online, and recently, a review meeting was completed where public and private sectors deliberated on the solutions derived through the forums.
As a result of the review meeting, in the field of promoting proper household waste disposal methods, additional measures such as mobile environmental education, education during moving-in and marriage registration, public service advertisements, and environmental facility tours were proposed beyond the initial ideas from the first and second forums.
Regarding the utilization of shared resident spaces, discussions were held on measures such as establishing a space management system for community centers and utilizing autonomous community halls. In the review meeting on the topic of gentrification (dungjinaemollim), discussions took place on methods for recruiting participants for stakeholder roundtable meetings, scheduling of the roundtables, and the timing of the execution plan task force operation.
Through this 'Mapo Urban Problem Solving Forum Cooperation Sharing Meeting,' the district will screen a video covering the process and content of the public-private cooperative forum conducted so far, followed by presentations of topic-specific forum results and group discussions to decide the direction and concrete execution plans for next year's forum.
