White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany stated in a press release that day, "As a precaution, following the advice of the president's physician and medical experts, the president will carry out his duties from a working office at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center."
According to Bloomberg News and others, President Trump will be transported to the military hospital by helicopter that day. This hospital is where President Trump unexpectedly underwent a health checkup last November. The Washington Post, citing government officials, reported, "Although he is not showing severe symptoms, considering his age and other risk factors, this measure was decided."
President Trump's symptoms after testing positive for COVID-19 are reported to be mild. Dr. Sean Conley, the president's physician, said in a statement released that day, "President Trump remains fatigued but is in good condition," and that as a preventive measure, he has taken Regeneron's antibody drug, zinc, vitamin D, melatonin, and aspirin.
The physician also said, "(First Lady) Melania Trump has only mild cough and headache and is maintaining good condition," adding, "The rest of the president's family is also in good condition and tested negative for COVID-19 today."
Earlier, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows told reporters that President Trump's COVID-19 symptoms are mild, stating, "The American people can be assured that the president is not only working but will continue to do so. We are optimistic that President Trump will recover very quickly."
