Seongbuk-gu Deoksu Church Emergency Living Expense Support Related to COVID-19
Donation of 5 million KRW total, 500,000 KRW each to 10 households for monthly rent support for low-income and self-employed affected by COVID-19 financial difficulties
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu announced on the 20th that Deoksu Church provided a total of 5 million won by supporting 10 low-income households and self-employed tenants with 500,000 won each, who suddenly faced difficulties in their livelihoods due to COVID-19.
Deoksu Church had previously set an exemplary precedent in the religious community by supporting 20 households with 10 million won in total for rent assistance to families and self-employed individuals struggling due to COVID-19 in the first half of this year. Recently, as the COVID-19 situation has prolonged, the church has once again stepped forward to provide direct help to residents who have lost their jobs or are facing economic hardships.
The 10 beneficiary households were recommended by welfare planners at the local community center, who directly identified, counseled, and visited households in welfare blind spots that have become more vulnerable due to COVID-19.
In addition, Deoksu Church collaborates with the local community center to carry out various welfare projects annually, including lunchbox delivery, sponsorship donations, home repair volunteer work, and scholarship support.
Pastor Manjun Kim of Deoksu Church said, “We hope that the church’s support will be of some help to families and businesses experiencing difficulties in the local community.”
