Yangcheon-gu Hosts the 24th Senior Citizens' Day Celebration 'Vibrant Youth! A Cultural Festival Together'
Four Welfare Center Events Held Separately, Safe Non-Face-to-Face Festival Sharing Participation Results via SNS
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) will hold a commemorative ceremony on October 7th to mark the 24th Senior Citizens' Day and will also host a pre-event, the "Vibrant Youth, Shared Cultural Festival," online.
The Senior Citizens' Day commemorative ceremony is scheduled to take place from 2 PM to 3 PM at Haenuri Town Haenuri Hall with a minimal number of attendees. After watching the intergenerational performance video "Young You" featuring generations 1 to 3 together, awards will be presented to distinguished contributors for Senior Citizens' Day. The event will conclude with viewing sketch videos of Senior Citizens' Day events from four senior welfare centers and a video about the age-friendly city initiative.
Every year, the district has operated age-friendly experience booths as side events alongside the Senior Citizens' Day ceremony. However, due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s event will be held in a non-face-to-face format to ensure the safety of the elderly.
As a pre-event for the Senior Citizens' Day ceremony, this year’s cultural event will be held online for three weeks from September 21 to October 8. Kits that can be experienced at home will be distributed at four welfare centers, and participants will share their results via SNS.
Photos or videos of the experiences shared through SNS will be collected by each welfare center, compiled into a video, and screened at the Senior Citizens' Day ceremony. The video will also be uploaded to Yangcheon-gu’s official YouTube channel, YangcheonTV.
