Jeonnam Province to Distribute 'Special Childcare Support Fund' Before Chuseok
200,000 Won Per Preschool Child Under the Age of 7
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province will provide a special childcare support fund to alleviate the childcare burden on families caused by COVID-19.
The province announced on the 28th that, as part of the government's 2nd disaster relief fund, 200,000 KRW per preschool child will be paid by Chuseok.
The support target is 83,492 preschool children under the age of 7 in the province who require direct care from their guardians.
This applies to preschool children born from January 2014 to the present who are currently receiving or are scheduled to receive child allowances for September this year.
The province plans to complete payments to each childcare family by the 29th, before Chuseok, with a total project budget of about 16.7 billion KRW.
The payment method will be in cash, unlike the first support fund (400,000 KRW), which was paid as card points or paper gift certificates.
No separate application is required for receiving the fund, and each local government will make a lump-sum payment to the existing child allowance accounts.
Additionally, children residing in child welfare facilities will have the funds deposited into the ‘Didim Seed Bank’ to help low-income children build assets.
