Deaf Hiker Rescued in One Day After Climbing Bangtaesan Mountain, Inje, Gangwon
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyungsoo] A hearing-impaired person who got lost while hiking Bangtaesan Mountain in Inje-gun, Gangwon Province, was all safely rescued.
According to Inje Fire Station on the 27th, contact was lost with 17 members of a hearing-impaired mountaineering club from Daegu around 7:48 PM, and after a search, they were rescued at 5:09 AM on the 27th.
Earlier, the mountaineering members set out for a hike on Bangtaesan Mountain in Girin-myeon, Inje-gun, Gangwon Province, around 9:20 AM on the 26th. They planned to descend around 4 PM, but when they did not come down after some time, the charter bus driver who had taken them reported the distress to 119 at 7:48 PM.
The 119 rescue team, dispatched after receiving the report, sent multiple text messages to the hearing-impaired mountaineers but received no response, so they proceeded with the rescue.
Among the 17 people, 8 were found by the rescue team and descended around 10:02 PM, about two hours later. Of the remaining group, 4 were rescued at 4:26 AM, and 5 were rescued at 5:09 AM, respectively.
