Lee Jae-myung: "North Korea Must Apologize and Punish Those Responsible for This Atrocity"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, has called for a responsible explanation, apology, and punishment of those responsible for North Korea's recent atrocities.
On the 25th, Governor Lee stated on Facebook, "The Ministry of National Defense confirmed and announced yesterday (24th) that North Korea committed the atrocity of shooting our citizens in North Korean waters and then burning the bodies," adding, "This is an utterly unacceptable inhumane murder and a provocative act that shakes peace on the Korean Peninsula and the status of the Republic of Korea."
He continued, "Gyeonggi Province, which has been striving to build peace on the Korean Peninsula, deeply acknowledges the seriousness of this incident," and "As the governor responsible for the safety of 13.7 million residents in the border area, I express strong regret to North Korea."
