First, a comprehensive filial piety gift set will be delivered to elderly people who will spend a lonely holiday due to reduced visits from their children.
The gift set is a package consisting of groceries and holiday foods, and it is planned to be delivered to 1,000 high-risk elderly customized recipients.
In particular, public officials and staff from customized care service agencies will personally visit the elderly, deliver the packages, and connect video calls via mobile phones with their children to convey their regards.
If video calls are difficult to connect, photos and text messages will also be sent to ease the worries of children living away from home.
During the Chuseok holiday period, alternative meals will be delivered to elderly people who have difficulty moving or have weak meal services to prevent welfare blind spots.
Earlier, about 500 public officials from 14 towns and townships and volunteer groups visited 8,144 elderly people to deliver songpyeon (rice cakes) and check on their well-being.
At the beginning of this year, Haenam-gun public officials raised funds to support 4,278 people with love packages in three rounds, and in August, through Ttangkkeut Haenam Hope Plus, love packages were produced and shared with 2,000 vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities and single-parent families.
The songpyeon sharing is also being promoted with about 25 million won raised through the Ttangkkeut Haenam Hope Plus regional linkage fund donated by individuals and organizations from various sectors.
Since early February, as free senior restaurants closed due to the spread of COVID-19, love lunchboxes have been delivered to 199 elderly users.
The lunchboxes are prepared at two locations, Haenam Senior Welfare Center and Haenam Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, and delivered to the elderly’s homes while checking on their well-being.
