[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Chang-won] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 23rd that the application period for the 2nd Jeju-type Disaster Emergency Living Support Fund will be extended by two weeks from the original September 27 to October 11.
As of the previous day, about 920,000 residents, approximately 92% of the population, have applied and registered for the 2nd support fund, and among them, 610,000 cases totaling 61 billion KRW have been paid.
In particular, Jeju Province is promoting the application for support funds by setting a concentrated publicity period to encourage applications from vulnerable groups.
For socially vulnerable groups such as elderly living alone, text message service for application guidance and postal mail are being sent, and a ‘visiting application service’ is provided for residents with mobility difficulties.
Additionally, publicity channels are being diversified through YouTube, bus information terminals, bank ATMs (Automated Teller Machines), and disaster text alert messages.
Applications for the support fund can be made not only by visiting the Eup, Myeon, and Dong offices but also online through the Happy Dream Portal.
Both online and on-site applications are no longer subject to the 5-day rotation system, so applications can be made regardless of birth year; however, on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, only online applications are accepted.
The eligible applicants are households registered as of 0:00 on July 29 in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and marriage immigrants and permanent residents listed in the foreigner registration list.
