The main contents of this agreement include ▲activation of technology and information exchange related to urban water issues and water circulation cities and cooperation to establish a research and development hub ▲joint research related to urban water circulation such as smart water cities ▲field demonstration research of related development projects and international cooperative research.
Urban water circulation refers to the circulation process in which water flowing into the city, such as rainwater, seeps into the soil and evaporates or flows into groundwater. Modern cities face the problem that natural circulation processes do not work well due to materials such as asphalt and concrete.
Accordingly, efficient management of urban water circulation is required to balance the quantity and quality of water and aquatic ecosystems in cities and to prevent disasters such as droughts and floods.
In particular, the need for research in the field of urban water circulation is increasing due to the recent increase in sudden and intense rainfall patterns and urban floods.
The two organizations plan to jointly cooperate to identify problems throughout the entire urban water circulation process and establish a safe water management system. They will also strengthen research cooperation on urban water circulation management methods such as the 'Smart Water City,' which scientifically monitors the entire process from water sources to household faucets to maximize water quality safety and water supply efficiency.
