Hyundai ENG and Inha University Hospital Launch 'Remote Medical Service for Overseas Employees'
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Hyundai Engineering announced on the 21st that it will implement a non-face-to-face medical consultation service for employees working or on business trips overseas in collaboration with Inha University Hospital.
The medical service targets Hyundai Engineering employees who are working or on business trips in countries where Hyundai Engineering has established a presence, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Kuwait, Turkmenistan, and Poland. The company plans to continuously increase the number of countries where the service is available.
This non-face-to-face medical consultation service is the first regulatory sandbox case related to telemedicine jointly promoted by Hyundai Engineering and Inha University Hospital, which was designated as the first government official temporary permit hospital for telemedicine services at the 2nd Industrial Convergence Regulatory Special Committee held in June.
The telemedicine service is conducted by employees making medical appointments through an online medical consultation dedicated website using their PCs or smartphones, after which a designated doctor provides one-on-one video consultations at the scheduled time.
Hyundai Engineering explained that since employees can receive overall health-related medical care and proper prescriptions, those who have not been able to enjoy adequate medical infrastructure due to communication difficulties and poor medical environments will be able to make good use of this service.
The medical service provided by Hyundai Engineering and Inha University Hospital differs from previously implemented non-face-to-face consultations by offering formal medical services. In-depth medical treatment based on test results received from local hospitals is also possible, and prescriptions are issued in both Korean and English.
A Hyundai Engineering official said, "Through the collaboration between Hyundai Engineering, which conducts various projects overseas, and Inha University Hospital, a leader in telemedicine services, we are able to provide telemedicine to Korean workers who are working hard in foreign countries. We will continue to do our best to ensure that employees have no inconvenience in using online medical consultations and advisory services through ongoing cooperation with Inha University Hospital."
