Impeachment of Max Daejip, President of KMA, to be Decided on 27th... "Decision Through Voting"
Responsibility for Signing Government-Ruling Party Agreement Without Member Consent... "Opportunity for Explanation Provided to Chairman Choi"
[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] The decision on whether to impeach Choi Dae-jip, president of the Korea Medical Association (KMA), who has been criticized for unilaterally signing the 'Medical Policy Agreement' with the government and ruling party, will be made on the 27th of this month.
According to the medical community on the 19th, the KMA held an executive committee meeting of the delegates' council and confirmed the date of the extraordinary general meeting to be held on the 27th to vote on the no-confidence motion against President Choi and other executives, as well as the formation of an emergency countermeasure committee.
The convocation of this extraordinary general meeting follows a proposal on the 17th by delegate Ju Sin-gu from the Jeju Medical Association to dismiss President Choi and KMA executives and to form an emergency countermeasure committee, which was agreed upon by 82 delegates nationwide. Delegate Ju and others are known to have held them accountable for signing the agreement with the government and ruling party without the consent of the members.
The agenda for the extraordinary general meeting on the 27th includes five items: ▲No-confidence motion against President Choi ▲No-confidence motion against Executive Vice President Bang Sang-hyuk ▲No-confidence motions against Director General Park Jong-hyuk, Medical Director Park Yong-eon, Policy Director Seong Jong-ho, External Cooperation Director Song Myung-je, Planning Director and Medical Director Cho Min-ho, and Public Relations Director and Spokesperson Kim Dae-ha ▲Formation of the 'Korea Medical Association Emergency Countermeasure Committee' related to doctors' struggle to prevent the four major evils in medical policy ▲Operation of the KMA emergency countermeasure committee.
The KMA plans to decide on the no-confidence motions for each executive through voting.
According to the KMA bylaws, a no-confidence motion is passed if two-thirds or more of the total delegates attend the general meeting and two-thirds or more of the attending delegates vote in favor. For executives other than the president, such as the executive vice president and standing directors, a no-confidence motion passes if two-thirds or more of the total delegates attend and a majority of the attending delegates vote in favor. Currently, there are 242 delegates in the KMA.
