Launch of the 'Youth Policy Coordination Committee' with Direct Participation of Youth
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun said on the 18th, "Today marks the first step in our history where policies for the youth fundamentally change to policies by the youth."
At the 1st Youth Policy Coordination Committee held at the Government Seoul Office, Prime Minister Chung stated, "The 'Youth Policy Coordination Committee,' where youth directly participate as the main actors for the first time in a government committee, is launched today."
He explained, "This committee is not just launched unilaterally; it is a statutory body established according to a related law enacted by the National Assembly."
Prime Minister Chung said, "From now on, youth will be positioned as the main agents of all government policies," adding, "To this end, youth participation will be made mandatory in over 150 government committees, including 31 committees under the President and Prime Minister."
He emphasized, "For the new era of youth that began here today to take root properly, the role of private committee members is more important than anything else," and urged, "Please candidly convey the voices raised by youth in their daily lives."
