[Breaking] "Unknown Infection Route"... Unusual Spread in Pohang and Gyeongju
Recently, in Pohang and Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk, cases of COVID-19 with unknown infection routes have been continuously reported, causing concern among health authorities.
According to Pohang City on the 17th, the infection routes of patients numbered 66 to 68, who tested positive for COVID-19, remain unidentified.
Mr. A, in his 90s (patient number 66), was found after being unable to move due to illness at home and not answering phone calls on the 15th. A welfare worker from the home care center reported him to 119 emergency services. He was transported to a hospital in Pohang, tested for suspected COVID-19 symptoms, confirmed positive on the morning of the 16th, and passed away that same afternoon.
The city is testing 180 people who had contact with Mr. A. Among them, Mr. B, in his 60s (patient number 67), tested positive on the 16th.
Mr. B, an asymptomatic carrier, is a caregiver who looked after Mr. A and visited his home on the 14th and 15th.
Mr. C, in his 40s (patient number 68), who tested positive on the 17th, also has an unknown infection route. Mr. C had cold symptoms starting on the 12th, visited a hospital, and was tested on the 15th. He stated that he had not recently visited other regions.
In Gyeongju as well, a COVID-19 patient with an unclear infection route was recently identified.
Mr. D, a Gyeongju citizen (patient number 70), who tested positive on the 15th, has an infection route that remains unconfirmed.
