Despite the government's easing of social distancing to Level 2, restrictions at Hangang Park will continue for the time being. On the 14th, Seoul City announced that it will maintain control over some crowded areas in Yeouido, Ttukseom, and Banpo Hangang Parks. [Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] The number of daily confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in the Seoul area exceeded 50 for two consecutive days.
As of midnight on the 17th, Seoul City announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased by 63 from the previous day, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 4,857.
There were 6 new confirmed cases (cumulative 27) related to the mask distribution and export company K Health Business in Gangnam-gu, and 4 new confirmed cases (cumulative 33) related to Severance Hospital in Seodaemun-gu. Nine cases were contacts of confirmed patients from other cities and provinces, and 18 were categorized as others. One case was related to overseas contact. Among the new confirmed cases, 25 are currently under investigation for their infection routes.

There was also one additional death. The 43rd death in Seoul was an man in his 80s who was confirmed positive on the 2nd of this month and had been receiving isolation treatment until he passed away on the 16th.
