Seoul Gangseo-gu Operates ARS Signage to Promote Resident Priority Parking Sharing
Calling the ARS Number Written on the Parking Spot Floor Solves Parking Problems
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) announced that it will operate the ‘ARS Parking Sharing System’ to promote resident-priority parking sharing.
The district has been implementing a parking sharing project using a mobile app, but to accommodate residents who are not familiar with or find the app inconvenient, it introduced the easy and convenient ‘ARS Parking Sharing System.’
The ARS signboards have been installed at 73 spaces near Dongsin-dae Apartments in Gayang-dong, where visitor parking is active.
After parking in a space available for shared parking service, users can register their vehicle by calling the ARS number marked on the ground.
Once parking registration is complete, a notification message is sent to the user’s mobile phone, and exit and payment can also be made through notification messages.
Parking is available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the parking fee is 100 KRW per 5 minutes.
Additionally, for app users, the district is conducting a pilot shared parking service using IoT (Internet of Things) sensors in resident-priority parking zones near Banghwa Station, with plans to expand from 6 spaces to 50 spaces by the end of this year.
Unlike the existing system where users must visit the parking space to check availability, the IoT sensors installed on the parking lot floor allow real-time confirmation of parking availability through the app, making it more convenient to use.
A district official said, “This project was promoted to allow anyone to conveniently use vacant resident-priority parking spaces by utilizing various technologies such as apps, ARS, and IoT sensors,” adding, “We plan to activate a parking sharing culture and resolve parking difficulties through technological utilization and awareness improvement.”
