Increase in Complaints from Mid-August... Recently 9,100 Cases per Week
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission announced on the 15th that it has issued a civil complaint forecast to enable related agencies to actively respond, as government-related civil complaints requesting strengthened quarantine measures and expressing public concerns about the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) have increased ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
The Commission has been issuing civil complaint forecasts to ensure that related agencies take necessary measures when complaints causing public harm, conflicts, or inconveniences surge or are expected to increase.
Since the first confirmed case in Korea in January, the Commission has been monitoring trends in COVID-19-related complaints collected through its complaint analysis system.
Complaints began to increase from mid-last month, with an average of about 9,100 cases per week (approximately 1,300 cases per day) received over the past three weeks.
This month, numerous complaints have arisen expressing concerns about the spread of COVID-19 due to returning home, vacations, and grave sweeping during the holiday period.
The complaints mainly included ▲ movement restrictions during the Chuseok holiday ▲ restrictions on grave sweeping and memorial visits ▲ establishment of quarantine rules in preparation for regional movement during the holiday ▲ prohibition of gatherings and events and restrictions on the use of multi-use facilities during the Chuseok holiday ▲ adjustments to exam and class schedules before and after Chuseok.
