[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] KCC Glass has launched a home flooring product called 'KCC Glass Sup Dodam 3.2 / 2.7,' ideal for households with children and pets.
Sup Dodam is named after the word 'Dodam Dodam,' which means children playing safely and growing up well. It signifies a safe flooring material that offers excellent slip resistance and walking comfort while being free from harmful substances, ensuring peace of mind for families with children and pets. The product holds various eco-friendly certifications such as the Environmental Mark, HB Mark, and Atopy Safety Mark.
Notably, this product is the first in the PVC flooring industry to obtain the 'Pet Product Safety Certification (PS Certification).' This certification is a quality assurance system that recognizes excellence in pet products that have passed safety standards inspected by the Korea Kennel Club and the nationally accredited testing institution KOTITI Testing & Research Institute. It verifies safety suitability for pets, thereby securing product reliability. Sup Dodam can be considered a safe flooring material that creates a living space not only suitable for humans but also for pets and humans to live together comfortably.
Sup Dodam’s non-slip surface coating and high-elasticity cushion layer provide safer and more comfortable walking sensations, absorbing shocks on paws and joints during jumping and landing. Flooring surfaces like hardwood, marble, or polished tiles, which are slippery or hard, can strain pets’ joints and cause serious conditions such as patellar luxation. Therefore, careful selection of flooring is crucial for households with pets.
Another advantage of Sup Dodam is its ease of cleaning and hygiene. Wooden flooring, which mainly consists of wood, often suffers from rot due to pet urine and feces. However, Sup Dodam, being a PVC sheet flooring, has fewer seams and gaps, preventing pet accidents from immediately seeping into floor crevices, allowing for simple cleaning to resolve contamination. The surface coating layer also contains cypress oil, providing a hygienic space for both pets and humans.
The product is available in two thicknesses, 2.7mm and 3.2mm, with designs reflecting consumer preferences and the latest trends: 7 patterns for 2.7mm and 11 patterns for 3.2mm, totaling 18 design patterns. To express realistic patterns, the use of synchronized embossing has been expanded. Synchronized embossing is a technology that matches the printed pattern on the flooring with surface embossing to realistically replicate the texture and characteristics of natural materials.
Wood pattern designs include 'Wide Design' options such as ▲Grand Oak White and ▲Grand Oak Brown, offering a spacious feel with the luxury of wide and long solid wood flooring. Meanwhile, marble and stone patterns feature five distinctive designs: ▲Tigre Marble White, ▲Eureka White, ▲Paradiso White, ▲Pietra Black, and ▲Crema Ivory. These provide attractive choices for consumers seeking new spaces different from familiar wood patterns.
A KCC Glass representative stated, "As more people consider pets as family members, interest and demand for 'Petterior'?specialized structures, designs, and materials for cohabiting with pets?are increasing. Sup Dodam is a safe flooring product that offers slip resistance, stable walking comfort, safety without harmful substances, and hygiene compared to hardwood flooring, providing a comfortable space where both people and pet families can feel secure."
