Seocho-gu, Construction of State-of-the-Art Untact Screening Clinic
Over 500 Non-Contact Walk-Through Tests Per Day, Complete Untact Testing with Glove Wall Introduction... All Facilities Equipped with Automatic Doors, Automatic Hand Sanitizers, Partitioned Chairs to Prevent User Contact... Automatic Negative Pressure Control System and Automatic Disinfection System Introduced for Safety of Users and Medical Staff
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho-gu (Mayor Eunhee Jo) has been operating a state-of-the-art untact screening clinic since the 14th to prepare for the anticipated fall and winter COVID-19 surge.
Whenever the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases rapidly increased, many people rushed to get tested, causing residents to wait outdoors for long hours exposed to heat or cold with anxious and uneasy feelings.
Medical staff also had to endure cold winters and humid summers wearing protective suits in container-type screening clinics since early this year. To resolve the inconveniences for both testers and medical staff, a new screening clinic was built to allow testing of more than 500 people per day in a comfortable environment.
The Seocho-gu screening clinic covers a total area of 151.5㎡ (46 pyeong) and is fully equipped with facilities such as an epidemiological investigation room, consultation and specimen collection rooms, face-to-face examination room, X-ray room, sputum room, and medical support room, capable of responding not only to COVID-19 but also to other infectious diseases.
The newly introduced screening clinic reflects the era's trend of "untact," prioritizing the prevention of cross-infection of infectious diseases. From epidemiological investigation to specimen collection, the entire process is conducted through a non-contact walk-through system with patients, allowing medical staff to work safely and comfortably without protective suits.
Conversations take place through a speakerphone separated by glass. A glove wall is installed in the specimen collection room, where specimens are collected in a glass-separated space.
To prevent infections caused by contact among users, all facilities are equipped with automatic doors and automatic hand sanitizers, and desks and chairs with partitions are provided in the waiting area. To prevent droplet transmission, the waiting room is designed with folding doors for better ventilation, and an air sterilizer is installed.
Additionally, various advanced safety equipment have been introduced. An automatic negative pressure control system is installed, providing positive pressure in the medical staff area and negative pressure in the patient area, allowing real-time monitoring of abnormalities and filtering airborne viruses with an air purification device.
Furthermore, an automatic disinfection system has been implemented. After a tester finishes specimen collection and leaves, pressing a switch inside automatically sprays disinfectant, expels indoor air outside using negative pressure, and disinfects for 10 minutes with a UV sterilization lamp.
Separate consideration spaces have also been created for the elderly, children, pregnant women, and other vulnerable groups, enhancing user satisfaction.

Seocho-gu Mayor Eunhee Jo stated, “Even after COVID-19 ends, I believe it is necessary to have solid countermeasures for future infectious diseases, so we accelerated the establishment of the untact screening clinic. We will continue to strive to make Seocho a safe city from various infectious diseases along with the end of COVID-19.”
