Chairman Kim Issues Commentary on the 14th, Expresses Gratitude to Citizens for Demonstrating Mature Community Spirit
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Kim In-ho, Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, expressed deep gratitude to the citizens for the reduction of social distancing measures in the metropolitan area from level 2.5 to level 2 starting from the 14th.
Chairman Kim stated, “This easing measure is thanks to the active cooperation of Seoul citizens who have exemplary followed and practiced the government’s social distancing guidelines,” and emphasized, “It was because of the trust in the citizens that the government was able to make such a decision.”
He also said, “I was deeply impressed by the citizens who, with a mature sense of community, endured the inconveniences of daily life and losses in livelihood while standing in solidarity for the greater cause of quarantine,” and added, “I am relieved that this easing measure has provided some relief to the small business owners operating restaurants and cafes who were subject to business restrictions.”
He continued, “However, since there are still risk factors such as cases with unidentified infection routes and the possibility of re-spread at any time, I ask everyone to actively participate in following personal life rules including wearing masks and practicing social distancing.”
Chairman Kim stated, “The Seoul Metropolitan Council will protect the health and safety of citizens through policy efforts that correspond to the quarantine will and dedication shown by the citizens,” and added, “The 110 Seoul council members will do their best in local areas to support citizens’ hardships and alleviate difficulties through legislative activities.”
