Installation of Underground Firefighting Boxes at Three Traditional Markets (Dokkaebi Market, Baegun Market, Sinchang Market)
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) has pilot-installed underground embedded fire hydrants at three traditional markets where securing fire lanes is difficult, to improve the environment of disaster-vulnerable facilities.
This is to enable any resident to easily use the fire hydrants for initial response in case of a fire accident.
The previously installed above-ground fire hydrants faced many difficulties in installation due to limited space within the traditional markets and were also difficult for residents to use easily.
The installation locations are three traditional markets: ▲ Dokkaebi Market in Banghak-dong (Dodang-ro 13ga-gil) ▲ Baegun Market in Ssangmun-dong (Samyang-ro 154-gil 30) ▲ Sinchang Market in Chang-dong (Deokneung-ro 57-gil 10).
The underground embedded fire hydrants pilot-installed this time are buried underground beneath the road, improving urban aesthetics as well as addressing the fire vulnerability of the narrow traditional markets.
Through this, the district expects that before fire trucks arrive, any resident can easily use the underground embedded fire hydrants without specialized knowledge, enabling rapid initial firefighting to prevent the fire from spreading into greater damage.
Furthermore, with the cooperation of Dobong Fire Station, the district plans to continue expanding the installation of fire hydrants in places where fire truck access is difficult, thereby improving the environment of disaster-vulnerable facilities.
