View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) will commemorate the 21st Social Welfare Day by holding the '2020 Seongbuk Welfare and Volunteer Festival' from the 14th to the 18th, featuring a street gallery at 'Seongbuk Bunsu Maru.'
The district had planned to hold a ceremony, resident participation booths, and cultural performances as in previous years, but due to the spread of COVID-19, it decided to operate an unmanned gallery instead of face-to-face events.
Although social distancing is ongoing, the non-face-to-face event aims to create a communication space to encourage and motivate workers and activists in the public and private social welfare sectors.
Hosted by the Seongbuk-gu Community Social Security Council, this event will exhibit works comforting psychologically exhausted residents, focusing on welfare activities within the community during the COVID-19 crisis. Caricatures of social welfare meritorious persons, photos introducing welfare institutions and activities, and 97 resident support messages commemorating Social Welfare Day on September 7 will be displayed in forms such as calligraphy.
Additionally, meritorious persons who contributed to welfare promotion will be identified and awarded the Mayor’s Commendation. Awards will be delivered non-face-to-face to 55 meritorious residents and public officials.
From September 21, an online gallery will also be operated on the websites and SNS of each working council and subcommittee. A video interview and support message from Mayor Lee Seung-ro will be shared, along with videos covering the meritorious awards and the entire street gallery content.
