[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Kyumsu) is collaborating with Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation to recruit tenants for ‘Dojeonsuk,’ a customized rental housing for young solo entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs in the area.
‘Dojeonsuk,’ meaning a lodging for those who challenge themselves, is a five-story building with exclusive areas ranging from 30.13 to 49.06㎡. In addition to residential spaces, the first floor includes a community area for resident meetings and startup support.
A total of 38 units are available across three locations: ▲Dojeonsuk Phase 1 (68-gil 37-11, Insuibong-ro, 8 remaining units) ▲Dojeonsuk Phase 2 (65, Samyang-ro 80-gil, 16 units) ▲Dojeonsuk Phase 3 (22, Suyu-ro 17na-gil, 14 units).
Dojeonsuk Phase 1 is near Gaori Station on the Ui-Sinseol Line, while Phases 2 and 3 are close to Suyu Station on Line 4, allowing convenient access to light rail and subway within a 5-minute walk.
Eligibility requires applicants to be Seoul residents aged between 19 and 39 as of the announcement date, September 4, and to be solo creative entrepreneurs, prospective entrepreneurs, or social entrepreneurs. Applicants must be members of a household with no more than two people without home ownership and meet certain asset criteria.
Interested individuals can check the eligibility and required documents in the announcement posted on the district office website and apply via email (alwayshs1@gangbuk.go.kr) by September 29. Tenant selection will be notified individually in early December after document screening, and move-in is scheduled to begin in January next year.
The deposit and monthly rent are set at approximately 30-50% of the surrounding market rates, depending on the area and the previous year’s average monthly income. Deposits range from 14.13 million to 30.75 million KRW, and monthly rent ranges from 180,000 to 450,000 KRW. The initial contract period is two years, with the possibility of renewal every two years if conditions are maintained, allowing a maximum stay of up to 10 years.
The district plans to supply a total of 77 units of ‘Dojeonsuk’ in six phases sequentially to support the successful startups of young entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs in the region.
