Trump: "Radical Left is Malicious, Will Do Anything to Win"
Fox News Reporter Following Atlantic Article Coverage, "Should Be Fired"
[Asia Economy International Desk Reporter] U.S. President Donald Trump, embroiled in controversy over disparaging remarks about war veterans, harshly criticized the reporter who wrote the article.
He also argued that the Fox News reporter who followed up on the story should be fired.
On the 5th (local time), President Trump emphasized on his Twitter account that he has worked for the military, including raising soldiers' wages. He then labeled the reporter who wrote the article as a leftist, saying, "The radical left is malicious. They will do anything to win."
Earlier, The Atlantic reported on the 3rd, citing multiple anonymous sources, that when President Trump visited France in November 2018, he canceled a visit to the U.S. military cemetery for soldiers who died in World War I and referred to the fallen soldiers as "losers" and "suckers."
In response, President Trump and the White House denied the report as "fake news."
In a tweet posted late the previous night, President Trump criticized Jennifer Griffin, Fox News' national security correspondent, for reporting on The Atlantic article without properly verifying it.
He shared an article from the far-right outlet Breitbart, which pointed out that Griffin did not confirm the most sordid parts of The Atlantic report, saying, "Griffin should be fired. She didn't even call us to request a comment. Fox News is gone."
