Park Il-pyung, LG Electronics’ CTO (Chief Technology Officer), appeared as a hologram in a virtual space to review the changed lifestyle in the new normal era accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic and introduced LG Electronics’ innovative products.
In particular, President Park presented a vision to maximize three values?‘safety,’ ‘convenience,’ and ‘fun’?at home to provide customers with a ‘good life.’
He emphasized, "Facing COVID-19, we are in a situation where we must recognize the new potential of home and adapt to changes," adding, "As a Lifestyle Innovator leading innovation, we will continuously create changes for customers’ safe, convenient, and enjoyable ‘good life.’"
First, President Park introduced LG Electronics’ steam appliances such as the Styler, dryer, and dishwasher for a healthier life that customers can feel more secure about. These products apply LG Electronics’ differentiated ‘True Steam’ technology. True Steam, produced by boiling water at 100 degrees Celsius, is effective for sterilization and deodorization.
Next, the LG OLED TV, which emits its own light to realize precise blacks and delicate expression, was introduced. Features such as ‘Dolby Vision IQ,’ which provides optimal images according to ambient brightness and content genre, and ‘Filmmaker Mode,’ which preserves the director’s intended colors and atmosphere, add fun by enabling a more immersive viewing experience.
Additionally, the 48-inch OLED TV released this year boasts next-level picture quality and excellent response speed, making it suitable as a gaming TV where immersion is important, according to the company.
The LG ThinQ app has been continuously evolving since its initial release in 2017, offering new customer experiences. Since last year, it has supported Proactive Customer Care, which manages home appliances in optimal condition. This service analyzes the operating status of products based on artificial intelligence technology and detects potential malfunctions in advance to notify users.
LG CLOi robots provide contactless services in restaurants and hospitals. To target the commercial market, LG Electronics officially launched the CLOi ServeBot in July. President Park said, "Robots will be an efficient alternative to replace human interactions," adding, "LG Electronics’ robots will operate based on the LG CLOi platform compatible with the open-source Robot Operating System (ROS2)."
LG Electronics expects that the LG CLOi platform, equipped with core technologies such as autonomous driving and robot intelligence, will expand the robot ecosystem, shorten product development periods, and become a driving force for the growth of the robot business.
Furthermore, LG Electronics is developing technology to remotely manage health. It is expected to fundamentally change how customers manage their health through digital transformation.
Regarding this, President Park stated, "Through artificial intelligence, customers will be able to monitor their health status more easily and accurately 24 hours a day," and "We recently successfully conducted a project managing chronic patients’ conditions in collaboration with Seoul National University Hospital."
