CJ Olive Young's Instant Delivery Service 'Oneul Dream' Sees 101% Increase in Orders
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Amid the resurgence of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and the surge in demand for immediate delivery, ‘stockpiling’ purchases are becoming prominent not only for daily necessities but also for cosmetics.
CJ Olive Young announced on the 2nd that, based on the order trends of the immediate delivery service ‘Oneul Dream’ from August 16 to September 1, when social distancing was raised to Level 2, the average daily number of ordered products surged by 101% compared to the period of intensive social distancing from March 22 to April 19.
This figure far exceeds the 76% growth rate in average daily order volume. The number of products purchased per order has increased compared to last March. It was found that so-called ‘stockpiling’ consumption is expanding not only for daily necessities but also for cosmetics.
Looking at the sales ranking, products frequently used in daily life such as mask packs, spot patches, and eyeliners occupied the top positions. The purchase of droplet-blocking masks to prevent COVID-19 infection also notably increased, ranking 10th in sales volume.
Additionally, as demand for non-face-to-face purchases rises recently, the average daily number of orders in the metropolitan areas where COVID-19 cases surged, including Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi Province, increased by 76% during the same period.
In response to the continuously rising immediate delivery demand ahead of the upcoming Chuseok holiday, CJ Olive Young expanded the number of ‘Oneul Dream’ delivery stores by about 100 starting from the 24th of last month. Delivery is now possible from over 600 stores nationwide, more than 10 times the number at the service launch. Currently, the number of products available for ‘Oneul Dream’ orders reaches approximately 11,000.

‘Oneul Dream’ is the industry’s first cosmetics immediate delivery service that allows customers to receive products purchased through Olive Young’s online mall and mobile app within up to 3 hours after ordering. Instead of a logistics center, products are packed and delivered from nearby stores, shortening delivery time by linking with the nationwide store network. Since February, options such as ‘Three Four (3!4!) Delivery’ and ‘Midnight Delivery,’ which allow customers to specify delivery time slots, have also been introduced.
