View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City has signed a business agreement with the Korea Data Industry Promotion Agency (K-DATA) to establish a Gwangju-type artificial intelligence business foundation and actively cooperate to revitalize the data economy, which is essential for the development of the AI industry.
On the 31st, Gwangju City announced that it held a business agreement ceremony with the Korea Data Industry Promotion Agency for the "Fostering of the Artificial Intelligence Industry in Korea."
Considering the spreading COVID-19 situation, the agreement ceremony was conducted with Mayor Lee Yong-seop and Director Min Ki-young signing via non-face-to-face video.
The Korea Data Industry Promotion Agency, which started in 1993 as the Korea Database Promotion Center, has been leading the data economy era by innovating the data ecosystem and creating new value. Its core projects include promoting private data distribution, establishing data business cities and industrial infrastructure, and nurturing data innovation talents.
The main contents of the agreement are ▲supporting the development and activation of private data distribution ▲creating a safe collection and utilization foundation for MyData ▲cooperating in the installation and operation support of safe zones in AI data centers ▲providing data vouchers to pioneer new markets for AI companies ▲nurturing AI data innovation talents, and through continuous exchange and cooperation, joint AI-related projects will also be pursued.
Gwangju City expects that the capabilities and experience of the Korea Data Industry Promotion Agency in data vouchers, data stores, data workforce training, data quality certification, and MyData pilot projects will create synergy for the successful operation of the "National Artificial Intelligence Industry Convergence Complex" and the "Artificial Intelligence Data Center" currently being established in Gwangju.
Director Min Ki-young said, "Gwangju and the Korea Data Industry Promotion Agency share a common goal of creating a data ecosystem toward 'revitalizing the data economy,' making us important partners to each other," and added, "We will cooperate to contribute to the revitalization of the data economy and the development of the artificial intelligence industry together with Gwangju Metropolitan City."
