Gwangju University Goes All Out to Block COVID-19... Introduces Automated AI Thermal Imaging Fever Detection System
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju University (President Kim Hyuk-jong) has implemented stringent quarantine measures in response to the resurgence of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
On the 31st, Gwangju University announced that it installed three container fever screening stations and introduced a non-face-to-face automatic AI thermal detection system along with an electronic entry log system using QR codes to create a safe campus environment.
All campus entrants must pass through the AI thermal detection system installed at the container fever screening stations using a walking-through method. Those entering by vehicle can use the existing drive-through method.
Additionally, Gwangju University plans to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in advance by collecting information such as entrants’ health status and visit history through the QR code electronic entry log system.
The QR code electronic entry log can be issued after confirming health status via a self-diagnosis mobile app developed by Gwangju University. After authenticating the QR code on the device and verifying temperature measurement, hand sanitization, and mask-wearing, a sticker is attached to allow campus entry.
Along with this, Gwangju University, which formed a COVID-19 emergency response team directly under the president, conducts daily disinfection and quarantine of all equipment and facilities inside buildings?including hallways, restrooms, door handles, desks, elevator buttons, and keyboards?with all staff leading by example to ensure a safe campus.
In particular, 24 nursing students are volunteering for fever checks to prevent the spread of COVID-19 both locally and on campus, working hard at various locations such as the drive-through fever screening stations.
