Gunsan City Provides Emergency Welfare Support for COVID-19 Crisis Households
Support of 2,472 Cases Totaling 1.565 Billion Won
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Tae-in] Gunsan City, Jeonbuk, has taken active measures to support through emergency welfare to resolve welfare blind spots caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
On the 31st, the city announced that it is providing emergency welfare support to households facing crisis situations such as job loss due to COVID-19, utility bill arrears, and loss of income.
So far, the city has supported 2,472 cases with 1.565 billion KRW through emergency welfare, low-income resident livelihood stabilization, Gunsan-type emergency welfare, and COVID-19 hospitalization and quarantine living support (4 types) for ordinary citizens in crisis due to COVID-19.
The city is overcoming the limitations of national support programs during the difficult COVID-19 period by implementing its own welfare projects, ‘Gunsan City Low-Income Resident Livelihood Stabilization’ and ‘Gunsan-type Emergency Welfare.’
Additionally, to respond quickly to crisis situations, emergency welfare is provided on the principle of advance support within 48 hours followed by a post-investigation, and if the crisis situation is not resolved, support is provided up to six times after internal review.
