Mokpo National University to Award 10% of Tuition Fees as 'Special Scholarship'

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Mokpo National University (President Park Min-seo) announced on the 28th that it will provide a special scholarship amounting to 10% of the first semester tuition fees to students and parents struggling due to COVID-19.
The special scholarship will be directly paid to students in the form of a scholarship amounting to 10% of the tuition fees actually paid by the students for the first semester, up to a limit of 200,000 KRW.
To implement this tuition reduction, Mokpo National University secured a budget of approximately 500 million KRW by cutting various project expenses, and after review by the University Finance Committee, plans to disburse the funds in early next month.
Since May, Mokpo National University has held continuous consultations regarding the recipients, criteria, and methods of scholarship payments in response to the student council's demands for scholarship disbursement, reaching a final agreement and holding a signing ceremony on the 26th.

President Park Min-seo stated, "Although the university's finances are strained due to the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis, we decided to provide special scholarships to ease the financial burden on students and their families even a little." He added, "Going forward, the university will do its best to protect students' health, safety, and their right to guaranteed learning."
