Iksan Fully Prepared for Typhoon 'Bavi'... Emergency Duty Initiated
Typhoon Influence Expected from Early Morning on the 26th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jae-hee] Iksan City, Jeonbuk Province, has switched to an emergency duty system in advance as Typhoon "Bavi," expected to bring heavy rain exceeding 150mm and strong winds with maximum instantaneous wind speeds of 40-60 m/s, approaches.
According to the city on the 25th, Iksan and other areas in the province will come under the direct influence of the typhoon from the early morning of the 26th.
Accordingly, the city held an emergency countermeasure meeting chaired by Vice Mayor Yoo Hee-sook, attended by officials from collaborative departments, and started preemptive emergency duty in preparation for the typhoon's path.
This typhoon is similar in form to Typhoon "Lingling," which affected the region last year. The city is conducting urgent pre-inspections of disaster-prone areas such as rivers and landslide risk zones, as well as various facilities including solar power installations and construction sites, to prevent damage, and is strengthening frequent patrol activities in hazardous areas.
Additionally, as significant damage is expected due to the typhoon's strong winds, the city plans to thoroughly inspect and manage the safety of structures vulnerable to strong winds, such as vinyl greenhouses, road signboards, banner removals, and tower cranes.
Furthermore, the city will minimize human casualties through thorough management of disaster victims' residences and evacuation facilities, and will also implement comprehensive COVID-19 prevention measures.
The city will monitor the typhoon's path in real time until the situation ends and focus administrative efforts on minimizing damage through close cooperation with related organizations.
