'Preemptive COVID-19 Measures'... Hyundai Rotem Implements Remote Work for 1,100 Office Employees at Uiwang Research Center
On the 17th of this month, after a confirmed case, all employees on the same floor undergo 'comprehensive testing' regardless of close contact status
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Hyundai Rotem is recently taking preemptive measures to prevent the in-house spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
According to the industry on the 22nd, Hyundai Rotem will implement remote work starting from the 24th for 1,100 office workers at the Uiwang Research Center, where COVID-19 confirmed cases occurred. Hyundai Rotem divided the 1,100 office workers at the Uiwang Research Center into two groups and arranged for each group to work from home for one week, totaling two weeks.
Earlier, employee A, who works in the office building of Hyundai Rotem’s Uiwang Research Center, tested positive for COVID-19 on the 17th, followed by employee B, who was on a dispatch assignment, testing positive on the 19th. Although B was not classified as a close contact of A, B experienced symptoms and underwent a COVID-19 test at a public health center.
Hyundai Rotem required all 247 employees who worked on the same floor as the initial confirmed case to undergo COVID-19 testing, and all employees tested negative. Hyundai Rotem arranged for those subject to the full inspection to work from home until this week, and close contacts on other floors were instructed to self-quarantine.
A Hyundai Rotem official explained, "The full inspection and remote work were implemented as preemptive measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 within the company."
