KT Selected as an 'Excellent Company in COVID-19 Crisis Response'
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT has been selected as one of the ‘Top 20 Global Companies Excelling in COVID-19 Crisis Response’ by the United Nations (UN) Economic and Social Council Special Consultative Status Organization, the ‘UN SDGs Association.’ Alongside KT, organizations such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Amazon, Dell, and Ford were also chosen.
According to KT on the 21st, the selection process began in September last year during the UN General Assembly and was conducted by the UN SDGs Association, which analyzed approximately 3,000 major companies worldwide based on 10 criteria and 43 indicators. This year, 20 companies, including KT, Amazon, Dell, Ford, Oracle, Hewlett-Packard, Tencent, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, were selected as outstanding companies in COVID-19 response.
In addition to being recognized as an outstanding company in COVID-19 crisis response, KT was also named one of the ‘Top 60 Global Sustainable Companies.’ The list of global sustainable companies includes KT, AT&T, Bank of America, GM, IKEA, JP Morgan Chase, Netflix, Nestl?, Adidas, Google, UPS, The Walt Disney Company, Nike, Tesla Motors, Osram, Daimler Group, and 60 other companies.

The UN SDGs Association stated, “This year, we focused on the unprecedented crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has significantly changed people’s daily lives and living environment standards,” and explained, “In this context, we announced sustainable companies that clearly indicate the direction humanity and the global environment should take and lead the future.” A KT representative said, “KT shares the will and direction of sustainable management for all humanity, including women and poverty eradication, through cooperation between labor and management, and we will strive even harder to create an eco-friendly future that contributes to society and humanity based on 5G and innovative technologies.”
