View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] Amid the ongoing full-scale COVID-19 testing of police officers deployed at the Gwangbokjeol rally in Gwanghwamun on the 15th, over 1,800 have tested negative.
The National Police Agency announced on the 19th at 4 p.m. that out of 7,613 police officers deployed at the Gwangbokjeol rally, 3,793 (49.8%) have been tested. Among them, 1,807 tested negative, and tests are still being conducted on the remaining personnel. The police explained that there have been no confirmed cases among those whose test results have been received so far.
The police plan to complete the full-scale testing by the 21st and sequentially deploy police units that have tested negative back to the field.
A total of 7,613 police officers from about 90 companies belonging to 14 local police agencies were deployed at the Gwangbokjeol rally. They were stationed around Gwanghwamun Station and Gyeongbokgung Station roads, subway station entrances, and other locations to manage the site.
The number of officers deployed by local agencies is as follows: Seoul Police Agency 5,417, Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency 667, Gyeonggi Bukbu Police Agency 259, Gwangju Police Agency 183, Gyeongbuk Police Agency 165, Chungnam Police Agency 150, Jeonnam Police Agency 139, Incheon Police Agency 126, Gyeongnam Police Agency 121, Daegu Police Agency 97, Daejeon Police Agency 75, Sejong Police Agency 73, Chungbuk Police Agency 72, and Jeonbuk Police Agency 69.
