Moon Chang-gi, Chairman of Ediya Coffee, Joins the 'Thanks to You Challenge'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Moon Chang-gi, chairman of Ediya Coffee, joined the 'Thanks to Challenge' on the 12th, delivering messages of gratitude and support to medical staff and citizens dedicated to overcoming the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) along with employees.
The 'Thanks to Challenge' is a public participation campaign initiated by the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters to encourage medical personnel working hard to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Recently, it has expanded into a campaign supporting all citizens. Participants post photos of sign language gestures expressing gratitude and respect on social networking services (SNS) with hashtags and nominate the next participants.
Chairman Moon, who participated in this campaign upon the nomination of lawyer Kim Sang-gon from the law firm Kwangjang, delivered a message of encouragement to the public along with a support photo through the company’s official Facebook and Instagram. Moon said, "I express my respect and gratitude to everyone who has been fighting a difficult battle to overcome COVID-19 so far," adding, "Ediya Coffee will also strictly adhere to quarantine rules at its headquarters and nationwide stores to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and do its best to overcome these challenging times together with the public."

At the early stage of the COVID-19 outbreak this year, Ediya Coffee implemented a franchisee support policy worth about 2.5 billion KRW, including waiving royalties for all franchise stores nationwide for two months and providing two boxes of coffee beans and quarantine supplies free of charge. This support served as a signal for other franchise companies to join the movement to help their franchisees. Recognizing its efforts to share the pain of franchisees caused by COVID-19, Ediya Coffee was selected as a Good Franchise certified by the Korea Fair Trade Mediation Agency in May. Chairman Moon nominated Oh Kwang-hyun, chairman of Korea Domino’s Pizza, as the next participant.
