Seodaemun-gu Expands Support for 'Safe Home 5-Piece Set' for Single Women Households
At Residents' Request, Expansion from 3 Pilot Neighborhoods to All 14 Neighborhoods... Support for Front Door Auxiliary Keys, Door Opening Sensors, Window Locks, Portable Emergency Bells, and Security Bars Provided
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) is expanding the target of the so-called ‘Wise Women Safety Living Project,’ which supports the ‘Safe Home 5-piece Set’ for single-woman households and single-parent households in densely populated residential areas.
The 5-piece set includes ▲ auxiliary door lock ▲ door opening sensor that sends a notification to a mobile phone when the door is opened from outside ▲ window lock ▲ portable emergency bell that sounds an alarm and sends a text message to 112 and acquaintances when pressed in an emergency ▲ security bars.
Depending on household conditions, applicants can choose to apply for the entire 5-piece set or only some of the items.
Also, the auxiliary door lock and security bars are installed only with the homeowner’s consent.
Until last month, the district accepted applications targeting Sinchon-dong, Yeonhui-dong, and Namgajwa 2-dong, pilot areas of Seoul’s SS Zone (Safe Singles Zone), but expanded the support area to all 14 neighborhoods in response to residents’ requests.
Single-woman households (single-person household heads) and legally recognized single-parent households living in rental housing with a converted rental price of 150 million KRW or less in Seodaemun-gu can apply. Homeowners or apartment residents are excluded.
Applicants can download the application form from the Seodaemun-gu website notice board, fill it out, and submit it by email (sdmmcc@daum.net) from August 14 to September 4, or visit the Women and Family Division on the 2nd floor of Seodaemun-gu Office or the Seodaemun-gu Healthy Family Support Center (244 Jeungga-ro, 2nd floor) in person. Applications may close early if the budget is exhausted.
Moon Seok-jin, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, stated, “We will continue to make various efforts to create a safe residential environment for residents, including single-woman households.”
