Kang Kyung-wha "Contributing to G7 with COVID-19 Response Capabilities"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Kang Kyung-wha, Minister of Foreign Affairs, who returned on the 11th after a business trip to Germany, stated, "Since the biggest global issue this year is the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), (Korea) is a country with the ability and capacity to contribute sufficiently to that issue."
After arriving through Incheon International Airport, regarding the agenda to contribute to the Group of Seven (G7) summit, she said, "There will be an agenda that we can contribute to," and added, "From the government's perspective, I think we should make full use of every opportunity to contribute to the international community."
Minister Kang said about the G7 summit schedule, "There has been no definitive notification yet."
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump indicated his intention to hold the G7 summit after the U.S. presidential election in November.
Regarding the discussion about the G7 held the previous day in Berlin, Germany, with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, she introduced, "Germany welcomed the invitation and said that Korea's participation would likely make a significant contribution."

Minister Kang added, "Expanding the membership beyond the summit is a separate issue," and said, "Minister Maas also explained that there needs to be much discussion and research among member countries, and I fully agreed with that."
