"Positive Philopon Urine Test → Negative Hair Test"… Court Releases Han Seohee
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Han Seo-hee, a singer trainee who was detained at a probation office on charges of drug use during her probation period, was released after testing negative in a hair test conducted by the National Forensic Service.
According to the Suwon District Court on the 11th, Judge Kim Soo-kyung of the Seongnam Branch Criminal Division 1 dismissed the prosecution's request to revoke Han's probation.
Previously, Han was indicted in October 2016 for smoking marijuana at the home of Big Bang member T.O.P and was sentenced to three years in prison with a four-year probation.
Subsequently, on the 7th of last month, Han tested positive for drugs in a surprise urine test conducted by the probation office under the Ministry of Justice.
The probation office detained Han, and the prosecution filed a petition with the court to revoke her probation.
Thereafter, the court held a closed hearing on the 29th of last month, during which Han claimed that there could have been an error in the urine test that showed a positive drug reaction. She reportedly stated that "there is a possibility that the paper cup used to collect the urine was contaminated with toilet water."
As a result, a hair test was conducted, and Han tested negative for drugs in the hair analysis.
