Guided Walking Tours in 5 Yeongdeungpo District Locations for Domestic and International Tourists, Professional Commentary Provided... Recruiting 20 Residents Aged 19+ with Tourism Service Mindset... Applications Accepted Until 6 PM on the 21st
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) is launching the training of cultural tourism guides called ‘Yeongdeungpo Tourist Interpreters’ to promote and develop local cultural tourism content.
The Yeongdeungpo Tourist Interpreters, trained for the first time this year by the district, will guide domestic and international tourists through the region’s history, culture, and tourism resources, providing professional explanations.
They will complete a two-month training course from September to October and begin year-round activities as walking tour interpreters starting in November. They will conduct guided tours twice a day (10 a.m. and 2 p.m.) once a week for tourists who have pre-booked one of the five walking tour courses in Yeongdeungpo-gu, with each session lasting more than two hours.
After completing the new training course and practical internship, the district plans to grant the tourist interpreter qualification to participants, nurturing them as cultural tourism professionals. However, they will serve as volunteers rather than employees and will receive a certain amount of activity allowance as reimbursement for expenses.
Applicants must be residents of Yeongdeungpo-gu aged 19 or older as of the announcement date, possessing basic knowledge, a tourism service mindset, and the will and dedication to serve as volunteers.
Those wishing to become tourist interpreters can fill out the application form and volunteer activity pledge posted in the ‘Notices’ section on the district website and submit them in person to the Culture and Sports Division of the district office, or by registered mail or email (bej9597@ydp.go.kr).
The district will select 20 new trainees through a first-round document screening and a second-round interview. After completing over 70 hours of training and passing the final evaluation, they will be appointed as Yeongdeungpo Tourist Interpreters and begin their activities.
The deadline for document submission is 6 p.m. on the 21st of this month, and successful candidates will be individually notified on the 25th. For more details, contact the Culture and Sports Division of the district office.
