GS Retail Expands Product Collaboration with US Organic Specialty Mall
Introduction of Eco-friendly, Organic, and Vegetarian Products to Over 15,000 GS Retail Retail Platforms
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] GS Retail is expanding synergy with the famous overseas organic specialty online mall Thrive Market.
GS Retail announced on the 11th that starting from the 13th of this month, it will introduce 12,000 limited bottles of the organic wine Calana Organic 750ml, imported from Thrive Market, the No. 1 organic specialty online mall in the United States, through GS25 stores nationwide.
Calana is an organic wine made from 100% Monastrell organic grapes from the Jumilla region in Spain, a wine-producing area famous for its Mediterranean climate. Thanks to the strongly alkaline limestone soil, it features exquisite vanilla aroma and a rich body, making it a consistent bestseller on Thrive Market. The price is 30,000 KRW, and to commemorate its launch at GS25, it will be sold at a discounted price of 15,000 KRW until the end of next month.
Thrive Market, which imported Calana, is an overseas startup company in which GS Retail invested 33.7 billion KRW in 2018. It is a membership-based organic specialty online mall in the U.S., and due to COVID-19, its sales in the first half of this year nearly doubled compared to the same period last year. Calana is the first product introduced by GS Retail from Thrive Market.
GS Retail plans to expand synergy by not only directly investing in Thrive Market but also introducing various eco-friendly, organic, and vegetarian products through it to GS Retail’s 15,000 retail platforms, anticipating that health-oriented consumption culture will gradually expand.
