Gyeongnam Office of Education, Two Teachers Dismissed for Installing Illegal Hidden Cameras in Restrooms
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Sharon] Two teachers who secretly installed illegal filming cameras in the women's restrooms of the schools where they were employed have been dismissed.
The Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 10th that it applied a rapid disciplinary procedure for sexual violence cases to these teachers, held a disciplinary committee, and decided on dismissal.
The office explained that since the disciplinary reasons related to sexual misconduct were recognized, the procedure was carried out separately from criminal punishment, resulting in the disciplinary decision.
Based on the investigation results of the Sexual Violence Citizen Participation Investigation Team, composed of external experts, the office held a Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence Deliberation Committee on the 3rd and judged that severe disciplinary action was necessary for these teachers.
According to the office and the police, Teacher A, in his 40s, installed an illegal filming camera in the traditional toilet of the women's restroom on the first floor of a high school in Gimhae on June 24.
The camera was discovered within about two minutes by a cleaning worker who was cleaning the restroom at the time.
Police investigations confirmed that Teacher A had also installed cameras at a school and a training center where he had previously worked.
On June 26, an illegal filming camera was found by a staff member in the traditional toilet of the women's restroom on the second floor of a middle school in Changnyeong.
