[Photo] One Year of Japan Boycott Movement... Ignored Japanese Beer
Last July, following Japan's export restrictions against South Korea, a boycott of Japanese products lasted for a year, resulting in a significant decline in imports of Japanese consumer goods such as beer and passenger cars. According to data received by Kim Young-bae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, from the Korea Customs Service, the import value of Japanese consumer goods in July this year was $252.57 million, a 23.4% decrease compared to a year earlier. Until 2018, South Korea was the largest overseas market for the Japanese beer industry, but imports plummeted by 84.2% within a year after the boycott began.
