Gwanak-gu '2020 Community Health Survey'
From August 16 to October 31, a visit survey of 915 adults conducted... Annual since 2008 to identify residents' health issues and provide basic data for health policy
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) will conduct the "2020 Community Health Survey" from August 16 to October 31 to elevate residents' health to a higher level.
The "Community Health Survey" is conducted by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency and public health centers according to the Regional Health Act to understand residents' health status and produce statistical data necessary for establishing health care plans and implementing health projects.
The survey is conducted through one-on-one interviews by trained surveyors who visit selected sample households in person.
On the day of the survey, surveyors strictly follow COVID-19 safety guidelines such as health status checks, wearing masks, and hand sanitization while participating in the survey.
The survey targets 915 residents aged 19 and older. Selected sample households receive advance mailings including a notice, household selection notification, and booklet to ensure smooth survey progress.
The survey items cover 142 questions across 18 areas including health behaviors (smoking, drinking, etc.), chronic diseases (hypertension, diabetes, etc.), prevalence and management levels, and quality of life. This year, COVID-19 related indicators are also included.
The district plans to utilize the statistical data produced through the community health survey to understand the community's health level and reflect it in the establishment and utilization of local health projects and policies.
In particular, Gwanak-gu has signed an agreement with Seoul National University Graduate School of Public Health to enhance the professionalism of the survey and produce accurate statistical data.
Mayor Park Jun-hee stated, "The community health statistics produced through residents' participation are actively used to establish and evaluate health projects essential to the community," and requested residents' keen interest, active cooperation, and participation when surveyors visit households.
