Prime Minister Jeong Issues Urgent Directive: "Do Our Best to Search for Missing Persons in the Chuncheon Uiamho Ship Sinking"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun urgently instructed on the 6th that "the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the National Fire Agency, the National Police Agency, and related ministries, as well as local governments such as Gangwon Province and Chuncheon City, must mobilize all available personnel and equipment to do their utmost in searching for the missing persons" in relation to the sinking accident of vessels on Uiamho Lake in Chuncheon, the Prime Minister's Office announced.
Prime Minister Chung also urged, "Pay special attention to the safety of the search team members."
At around 11:30 a.m. that day, two administrative vessels and one police vessel performing official duties sank on Uiamho Lake in Chuncheon City, Gangwon Province, and it is estimated that a total of six people on board are missing.

According to officials at the scene, immediately after the accident, the vessels were swept downstream through the No. 6 sluice gate of the 13-meter-wide Uiam Dam. It was also reported that although several people were on the vessels involved in the accident, some could not escape, and it is presumed that several people are missing.
