[Breaking] Former Captain Jang Yoon-jung Finally Arrested in 'Late Choi Sook-hyun Athlete Abuse' Case
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] Jang Yoon-jung (31), the former captain of the Gyeongju City Hall Triathlon team, who was identified as the perpetrator in the abuse case within the team, was arrested on the 5th on charges including assault.
Judge Chae Jeong-seon, in charge of the warrant at Daegu District Court, issued the arrest warrant during the pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant review) for Jang, stating there was a risk of evidence destruction and flight. Jang is accused of assaulting and verbally abusing several junior athletes, including the late athlete Choi Sook-hyun.
Earlier, in March, when Choi accused coach Kim Gyu-bong (42), athletic trainer Ahn Joo-hyun (45), and two senior athletes of abuse, Jang was sent to the prosecution at the end of May with a recommendation for indictment on charges of assaulting Choi.
